Welcome Remi Gaulin, Prosthetic Orthotic Resident

We’re excited to officially welcome Remi Gaulin to Syracuse Prosthetic & Orthotic Center, where she joined our team in January 2026 as a Prosthetic Orthotic Resident.

Remi’s path into prosthetics and orthotics was shaped by hands-on experience early in her career. During her seven years working at Brookdale, she was exposed to a wide range of adaptive equipment while supporting individuals in geriatric care. That exposure sparked a curiosity that stood out to her as she considered her future, one that blended problem-solving, creativity, and meaningful impact on people’s lives.

She went on to complete a combined bachelor’s and master’s program at the University of Hartford in Connecticut, graduating in 2025. One of the most exciting aspects of her academic journey was being part of a close-knit master’s cohort of just 17 students, 15 of whom were women. Remi is energized by what that represents for the future of the prosthetics and orthotics field and the perspectives this next generation of clinicians will bring.

Remi is enthusiastic about learning from a team of clinicians who each bring their own unique approach to patient care. She appreciates the opportunity to see how different perspectives can be applied to solving the same clinical challenge and values being in an environment where collaboration, experience, and thoughtful care come together every day.

After spending much of her early career working in geriatrics, Remi is especially excited to expand her experience into pediatric care. For her, patient-centered care means ensuring that every individual feels heard, respected, and empowered in their own health journey, having a voice and a sense of control in the decisions that affect their lives.

What Remi enjoys most about this stage of her career is the feeling of constant learning. She describes it as her “brain expanding”, building skills, gaining confidence, and seeing real progress in her ability to provide care and rise to new challenges. While she’s completed internships in the past, this residency feels like a true stepping stone: an opportunity to be hands-on, dive deeper, and grow as a clinician in a fast-paced, lively clinic where everyone is actively engaged and contributing.

Outside the clinic, Remi loves the outdoors and hiking with her dad. She has a passion for travel, having visited six different countries in recent years, and enjoys immersing herself in new cultures, especially through food. She’s currently learning Italian and recently climbed Mount Marcy, with plans to continue exploring the Adirondack High Peaks this summer.

That love of movement, adventure, and accomplishment closely aligns with her philosophy of care. Remi believes that prosthetics and orthotics should help people see themselves not as limited, but as capable. Passionate about supporting them in continuing to do the things they love and pursuing the goals that matter most to them.

Looking ahead, Remi’s goals include becoming board-certified, building confidence as she prepares for her exams, and continuing to learn as much as possible. In the future, she’s interested in potentially specializing in mastectomy orthotics, further expanding her ability to support individuals through meaningful, life-changing care.

We’re thrilled to have Remi as part of the SPOC team and look forward to watching her grow, learn, and make a lasting impact on the patients and families we serve.

Welcome to Syracuse Prosthetic & Orthotic Center, Remi; we’re so glad you’re here.
