This course will educate therapists and case managers on the phases of care that individuals with upper limb loss and deficiency require. In addition, the course will introduce them to the latest in prosthetic upper limb technologies. Therapists and case managers will be able to identify which clients are appropriate candidates for various prosthetic devices. The course emphasizes the critical nature of functional training to maximize outcomes.
Objectives:
· Understand phases of upper extremity amputee care
· Be able to describe options for upper limb prostheses
· Utilize myo-tester and virtual training in pre-prosthetic training phase
· Describe the benefits of a multi-articulating hand terminal device
· Determine who would be an appropriate candidate for the i-limb™ quantum, i-digits™ and livingskin® devices.
Continuing Education Requirements. Participants will receive a Certificate of Course Completion only if they sign-in at the beginning and sign-out at the end of the course. Attendees will be required to complete a written evaluation at the end of the course to demonstrate understanding of the content. Ossur is an AOTA approved provider of occupational therapy continuing education.
